Transversal section

   
  Diffuse-porous. Small pores, solitary, numerous to relatively infrequent. Growth ring boundaries often indistinct. Thick-walled fibre-tracheids. Apotracheal diffuse parenchyma.
 
 

Radial section

   
  Round to oval, scalariform perforation plates with 5 to 10 bars. Heterogeneous rays. Thick-walled ray cells, with 1 to 3 rows of square and upright marginal cells. Fibre tissue composed uniquely of fibre-tracheids.
 
 

Tangential section

   
  Predominantly biseriate rays, rarely uni- or 3-seriate. Small ray cells in the central zone of ray, conspicuously bigger marginal cells. Ray height 6 to 12 cells.
