Transversal section

   
  Diffuse- to slightly semi-ring-porous. Pores in rather wide, radial multiples and clusters. Sometimes in slightly dendritic pattern. Growth ring boundaries undulating. Indistinct, mostly diffuse apotracheal parenchyma, rarely in small groups. Aggregate rays present, sometimes missing in young shoots.
 
 

Radial section

   
  Scalariform perforation plates with generally 5 to 10 bars. Frequently fine spiral thickenings present. Rays generally heterogeneous, with one to two rows of square to slightly upright marginal cells, rarely homogeneous. Mainly libriform fibres, fibre-tracheids rare (difficult to differentiate).
 
 

Tangential section

   
  Uniseriate rays, only in aggregate rays bi- and triseriate rays often present. Average ray height: 10 to 25 cells, rarely up to 40 cells.
